So Easter day! What a wonderful day..my Saviour is alive, not dead, he has risen! Amen!
We were very numerous in church this morning, with lots of visitors..we had sketches from the youth group..like an interview of Mary Magdalene, & the two disciples on the road to Emmaus..worked well. The Sunday school put some things on the flannelograph whilst someone read the story of the empty tomb, & the ladies group sang (flat!) two Easter songs!
Then every one back to our house for a BBQ..we were about 31 in number. It was lovely to all be together on Easter day, to celebrate together that our Saviour is alive, that through his sacrifice on the cross, we have eternal life with him, forgiveness of sins, clothed in his righteousness alone..
For the International meeting, we stayed here, the folks from that came to the BBQ too, so we were all mixed in together..great for them to meet each other, after all we are all of the same church, but just different parts...
We talked this evening from Isiah 53, Jesus being our substitute, & from John 20. It is always good to be reminded what Easter is all about cos it can become too familiar..
We heard how, after Jesus resurrection, he spoke to Mary in the garden, & told her to go "to my brothers" & to give them the message that He had indeed risen from the dead.
We often miss those special words of Jesus "my brothers", special because it showed he love his disciples even after they ran away, terrified of being associated with him! He had forgiven Peter for betraying him,.
Often the last thing we want, is to meet up with someone whom we have betrayed in one way or another..we want to avoid them, but here Jesus is saying "it's ok, I've forgiven you..I love you"
All in all, a really super day!
For He lives, Christ is risen from the dead
