So yesterday evening we headed into Bordeaux centre...We were packed like sardines onto the tram..some wonderful moments were had when it stopped and everyone fell back or forward on someone, and everyone laughed!

We arrived at Quinquonces, where it was croded already, but we were just about able to see some of what was going on..I didn't have camera or phone with me, so was unable to take any pics..
We were expecting parachootists to land in the middle of the square but it didn't happen for some reason.

The army and navy played, marched received honors for bravery etc..Then around 10pm we moved to the river to watch the fire works, which were spectacular! The sky was at times just filled with colours! they were really good.

We found ourselves with a friendly & helpful crowd..earlier we'd met up with some of our Chinese friends, but they had got, so one of them phoned Alan to find out where we were, and he took great pains to explain that we were near the river, just past the mirrior d'eau, by some vendors of ice cream...one of the ladies even waved a white cap in the air for us to see if they would be able to get to us! We had a bit of a laugh, the whole atmosphere was splendid, and we even got to walk by the side of the river we'd never done before and had always wanted to do!

We decided that to walk back to the car would be easier! We'd never get on the tram this time the whole world was there!
Gwilym had met some mates, so he hung around with them and later found the car and so we made our weary way home..getting in about 12.30
