We had the first of our home-group bible studies at our friends the Arragouets on Friday evening. We're going through the book of James (or Jacques if you live in France..boy for me that was so confusing the first time..after all there isn't a book of Jacques in the bible is there??..until of course I realised that Jacques is James..live & learn)
We started with the introduction, by reading the whole book, doing a section each..I was so getting into reading it that I forgot to stop!
We found out who Jaques was,ie the brother of jesus, & talked about his character..the fact that he hadn't always believed that Jesus is the Messiah, like the rest of his family. That his letter here is very direct, he doesn't give salutations or like some, blessings at the end of his letter, then talked about the content, & how he ties in with the Old Testament. Our homework is to see how much of the beatitudes we can see within it as well..not sure how often we'll be meeting, but it's just so encouraging to be together like that. There were 6 of us, with the hope that several others in our catchment area will join with us next time.
Gwilym has gone back to lycée thismorning..seems that he finishes early one or two days this week, which is great..thinking of giving him multi-vits.
