You can say this for the whole of Jan here more or less, and they don't think you're mad!
So New Year's eve we went to the church for an evening of fun & jollity..just a small number but it was lovely..
There's this game called 'les loups garous" werewolves..(it's a longer title than that but I can't be bothered)
So you have 13 people (I suppose it could be less) but there are essential folks..
the werewolf
little girl
a person who is allowed to see
twins
villagers
The story teller hands around the papers so we all know the part we're playing without telling anyone..then put the paper face down on the floor in front of us
Then the story teller tells the story of the village, & everyone must close his eyes when night comes.
The story teller says the twins can open their eyes (so they know each other, if one is 'eaten by the wolf, so is the other, & they can defend each other)
The 'seeer' is invited to open their eyes & can chose to look at one of the papers on the floor
The little girl can open her eyes but discreetly so the wolf (who is also asked to open his eyes) so she can't be seen by the wolf
The wolf then chooses whom he is going to eat
Every one opens their eyes, & story teller continues the story & every one has to guess who is the loup garou! No one is allowed to say which character they are playing, so no one knows who the little girls is, who has probably seen the wolf..so it's all good fun!
There were jokes, music (Catrin played two peices on the piano, Gwilym sang a Steve curtis chapman song Speechless, ably aided by a wonderful backing group!(posted on facebook I think!)
Of course we all ate together first, & there was plenty of food..some French specialities that were a bit like a jam rolled sponge..very nice..no oysters though!!
Midnight came..everyone kissed said happy new year (some of us sang Auld lang sein..but forgot the words, & our friends looked very bemused!!!)
A word of scripture & a time of prayer..wonderful way to start the new year.
I would post photos but they're on my phone & I can't seem to get 'em off onto Picasa! I'll have a fiddle around & see wot I can do...;
So the year has started quietly with 3 of us coughing our way through the days & nights...
The student work starts back around 17 jan..
Work on the new building continues..we have to be out of the old one by 15jan.. still no water, no heating no toilet...please pray!
So here we are in 2011..not alone, but hand in hand with the maker & sustainer of all things, the One who knows the end from the beginning..Sovereign Mighty God! What a relief!
