Quiet week

..for me this week, no ladies to visit, just tomorrow morning in the book shop, then ladies meeting on Friday morning.
So have been catching up on house work, trying to find a better way to attach beads to a scarf I've made for a Christmas present, sorting out Sunday school..we're doing the Christmas story this week..bit early, but the children are being given their parts for the spectacle on 18 Dec..hoping of course that they'll come!! You can never tell.
Also got to read a chapter of John Piper's book "Jésus; prendre plaisir à le découvrir"

It still seems to me that the teachers here like to play games with the students/parents.
A child comes home with a report that says "if your marks don't improve pretty quickly I can't see how you can consider staying in this school "

So a gentle but firm chat with said child...The teacher asks said child "what was your parents reaction" ..to the whole class now, so it's obvious that the others have had the same report..which in some ways is a relief cos then you realise that your child isn't particularly thick, the whole lot of 'em are struggling.;what does that say about the teaching method, & why does the teacher want to know the reaction of tha parents?
Apparently most of the other parents told their kids they're stupid..I suppose it comes from a long line of "teaching skills" passed down from generation to generation, so much so that you begin to believe you are thick..
What ever happened to encouragement??
