Where did that weekend go?

It flew by! It started with having two friends of Catrin & Gwilym coming to stayFriday til Saturday morning, then off in to town in the afternoon, then the home group in the evening.

We looked at what the bible has to say about Jesus and who he is;

John ch 1
'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made;
without him nothing was made that has been made.'

Phillipians 2v5-11

"Your attidude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus
who being in very nature God,
did not consider equality withGod something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likenness
and being found in appearance as a man
he humbled himself,
and became obedient to death- even death on a cross.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the glory of God the Father'

One of the things that Jesus was accused of was blasphemy..He forgave sins but everyone knows that God alone can forgive sins .Matthew ch 9v1-8
He also claimed to be the son of God Luke 22v70

One thing that always stuns me, is when Jesus is standing before Pilate and the roman soldiers, those whom he created,and lets them beat him and abuse him..but all scripture had to be fulfilled, and I imagine that I would have been amongst the jeering crowds whilst he was being accused..but thankfully we have a merciful and forgiving God! praise Him!

Sunday we were in Church by 9.30 as Alan was cheif d'orchestre, and so had to be there for the pracise of the songs.
Sammy has started a series on the 10 commandments..general introduction..of why we need laws, and how we disobey them! How often we slip through a red light, how often we say or think dreadful things about other people, about God, how we lie, steal etc..we all do it,no one can say they have never stolen something,; be it something small from the office at work..notelets, time making that phone call to a mate during work time..small and seemingly insignificant? maybe, but we all do it.
God has given us laws that are to be 'fully obeyed' and He has given them to us because He loves us..

Then it was of to Anglade where Alan was preaching (the chap who was to preach was unwell, and so Alan was asked )

They meet at 4pm, so it was a quick lunch here with the Griffins minus Ben who is in snow filled UK, and then leaving at 3ish. They are a small but faithful number meeting each week, and really need a pastor full time..they are a part of the Church here in Cenon, and we need to make more of an effort to include them in things..we have decided to try and go to their services as often as possible to encourage them..it will mean very quick lunches, but in the summer, we can take picnics with us after the morning service here,and go straight to Blaye with our nosh..it is a lovely area and will be great to do that in the summer..

Now I have to look at the load of verbs that my teacher has given us, as I haven't even glanced at them since last Monday! oops
