Easter Day....

...In my mind should always be sunny & bright cos it's such a wonderful day of hope!

We were more or less full in the morning, which was splendid! We sang favourite songs 'Christ the Lord is risen today' in French.

Sammy spoke about the disciples on the road to Emmamus (as did Alan in the evening, not planned but both very different we sang more of the same songs that we had sung in the morning, but in english which is great, it sort of connects both International church with the French church, which is the general idea!)

Then back to feed the hoards..It was just great to have so many folks together on such a special day, I feel that as believers on such a day as this we should be together!
We were about 20 I think, and I'm soooo thankful for the wonderful slow cooker we have, I've used it so much..

It was great to have everyone sitting round chatting, and the youngsters could go to the park just up the road..It was great.

In the evening we had several new faces, who had previously contacted Alan through the web site or had just searched the net for English speaking churches, and had come across it...

He too spoke about the disciples on the road to Emmaus and gave a wonderful picture of how, after they had realised who the man was that they had been speaking to, of just running virtually all the way back to Jerusalem with their hearts just full of joy & amazement!

It may have taken about 2hrs on foot along that road, but we're sure it didn't take them 2hrs to get back again!!

How it was that they were kept from recognising Jesus..well it may well have been that they were so fed up, so miserable, they just couldn't see before their faces! We're often like that, so consumed with what's going on in our lives that we miss what is just before us..and how Jesus opened up the scriptures..All the scriptures starting with Moses and the prophets...to show how he had to suffer, and rise again on the third day!
We spoke about ideas to help us to get to know the bible better, and one little chap said he reads a bit everynight (or at least mum & dad read to him) and how Chrisitan books are really helpful.
Someone else suggested reading a book with someone, and another said that just taking a book of the bible and reading it all the way through in one sitting helps a lot to get the whole meaning and setting of that particular book.

So, Liz & I have decided to get a good Christian book, and read together on a monday morning after the hols..

Funny thing isn't it, that sometimes we forget that the whole of the bible is God's big picture, of Salvation through Jesus Christ..It didn't just start in the gospels to the end of Revelation, but started in Genesis...the whole of the bible talks about God's wonderful plan of salvation for the lost!
