Each year at the student centre, we do a meal on Christmas morning for students who are staying in Bordeaux, cos they come from China or some exotic country that's too far away for them to go home..
This year we thought we would do it at the Church after the service, as Fac is closed (Fiona & Liz taking a well earned rest with family back in the UK)
This year we had our first Christmas Day service! It was great even though we were few in number. Dik & Alan shared the ministry, where one would read in French the other would translate into English. . Alan would then question Dik on what he had just read, and talk about that..
We sang several carols, and Dik made everyone sing one in English! A look of panic swept over Cécile's face! so I went to help by pointing to the words for them! Ahh a great moment..
It was great to get together on Christmas Day, to remember together why we celebrate this day! The birth of our Saviour!
After the service we all went up, having bought food to share and sat down together..It was a lovely time for us, the Griffins the Thille & Andy & Sen..we played games after the chaps did the washing up..
The Griffins have a wonderful collection of lego, so that came for the younsters & I took an old favourite, Monster (like happy families except you collect monsters, and have to say please & thankyou or you have to give your cards back!)
It was quite fun to hear some of our french friends tryiing to say words like 'thumbsuckorilla, grinaroo, slupersaraus'
Later in the afternoon Alan set up his laptop so we could watch Aladdin on dvd...
All in all it was a super day...
