We have just had a visit from some friends, who are coming to Bordeaux for a while to learn French before heading off elsewhere.
They came to see the school,(they have 3 young children) get the forms for the DEFLE and just get a feel of Bordeaux..It reminded me so much of the time we did the same thing.
The first day that the children went to school is still something that brings tears to my eyes, but we can be so grateful to God when we see how far they have come!
It doesn't seem possible that it's nearly 2yrs ago! It really feels like home here, and although the language for me is still a bit of a struggle, it will come soon....Gwilym has just asked me if I would phone one of his school friends to see if it's ok for him ot come here for some time on Saturday!!! Argghh!! ('quickly gets out the dictionary!)
Now we are just seeking to see what God has planned for us after the first 2yrs..
We were so grateful to have someone here for us who knew the 'ropes' as it were..It would have been so much harder with out her.
Hopefully we will be able to do the same for them...

Wow, I really do admire anyone who is prepared to 'up sticks' and go to a foreign country with youngsters in tow. It has been a wonderful evidence of devotion to God and to the provision of God too.
Actually having young children may help you with your language - if they get really simple books in French , you will be able to read them with the excuse that they're not yours!I expect the Blyton books are Catrin's really aren't they?!
Yes, I have to confess that they really were for Catrin,but having read the same one in English really helps when reading it in French.
Incidently, Gwilym's friend is coming.. I managed to convey our request, and then handed over to Gwilym to give the directions!
