The Sunday after Ascension day

Today Sammy spoke from Acts , the first chapter, and Luke 24 v50- the end.

Generally I don't think the British Christians celebrate Ascension Day, although maybe the Anglican church does, don't know.

This morning Sammy talked about how important it is, and how we should think about it. He said that it would have been possible for Christ once risen, to go straight to heaven, but that it was necessary for him to stay, and spend time with his disciples and be seen, so that they would be able to say that He had really risen. They were truly witnesses to his resurrection.

Obviously this is seen when the apostles speak up on the day of Pentecost..

He obviously said a lot more much of which I got but some I didn't but it was really interesting and made me think more about this day..

We again had a big group back to share lunch, and this time we were a bit more organised, and made a list last week of things needed, therefore we didn't end up with only one dessert and loads of salad!

This time we had a few extras..some friends visiting from N Wales, which is always a treat and great joy, and some American friends who are staying with Sammy and Carol to help take things down at the church, ready for the big move in July!!

It was a great time again, and we sat under the eaves, and had a BBQ! So even if it rained it would have been ok..it did rain, and thunder a bit, but that was after the food had been eaten and most of the folk had gone home.

I love it!
