Rememberance Day

is a national holiday in France. In the centre of Pessac was the ceremony by the cenotaph. Quite a few people gathered..there were speeches but the seemed to miss out the 2 mins silence..It was good to see some old soldiers there..

One was getting quite cross with folks who kept pushing through the crowd on their way to the shops (some were open)

He got fed up, and so cross he stormed off. You can understand in a way..he was obviously an old soldier, and felt quite rightly, that it should be remembered..He could be heard amongst the crowd, even Alan could hear him!
Quite different from the UK, where there are no speeches, and the silence, taking time to remember those who gave their lives for their country. Here , no acknowledgement or thankfulness to God for those men and women who went to war...
these imitation trenches were nearby
look closely and you can see Alan in there somewhere
