The North wind doth blow And we shall have snow And what will cock robin do then, poor thing, He'll hide in a barn To Keep himself warm, And tuck his head under his wing, Poor thing.
Author unremembered, but about the only thing I can recall from primary school days. (That is, apart from Valerie Jacks and Marla McNulty but they're totally different stories and not for telling here!) But isn't it funny how a totally isolated incident can set off a train of thoughts? Totally incomprehensible to anyone else though!
What a little cutie. He looks well on your crumbs. Our garden birds are quite noisy at the moment, even at 2.30 in the morning, or night if you prefer. Someone suggested it maybe a nightingale but it really doesn't sound that sweet. Perhaps nightingales aren't sweet sounding. My particular mystery species seems to twitter agiatedly all through the daylingt hours also. Doesn't the thing ever sleep?!
