The Musical Hiers

This is the choir that came from the USA for the week, to do concerts in different places around Bordeaux and the area. They can do this because they are all home schooled.


They are aged from 10yrs to 16yrs and sang Benjamin Britten's " A Ceremony of Carols" and then a selection of other songs for Christmas.

They sang beautifully! Even though they must be soooooo tired! and they are a nice bunch of folks. They all went to visit the Dune du Pila during the day, so that wore them out too!

They arrived on Saturday, did their first concert in Blaye Sunday afternoon (they sang in our church service in the morning)

After church on Sunday we all ate together, although the choir had a separate arrangements so they could go and have a good old snooze too!

My brother was here too for the weekend, (lovely to see him) so he got a taste of the madness that goes on here sometimes, but it was also a good opportunity for him to get a taste of French cuisine..always a good experience!

The choir did another concert yesterday, that was specifically aimed at the English community.. and this took place at the building we are using for our Sunday meetings,although the folks that came were all French!
We had coffee and gateaux afterwards.It's not an easy place to find, so if you don't know the area it's not easy.

So there were only a small number there last night but they seemed to really appreciate it, and one or two of them joined in singing "Il est neé le divin enfant" the last of the songs the choir sang.

The place where we are meeting at the moment, is a bit obscure, if you don't know the area or where the place is, it is not easy to find!

Tonight they go to Blanquefort, tomorrow they sing in the Catholic church in the centre of Pessac..That one will be easy to find.Then on Saturday the sing in the centre of Bordeaux..

They go home Sunday at some awful hour like 4am!

It's the first time they have done concerts like this although they did some in the States to raise the money to come out here, and they are doing really well..It's inspired Catrin anyway! She wants to join a choir..I told Sammy we'll have to get one going in Church!
